About Easter Eggs

Every spring, kitchen tables across the country transform into something magical — mugs of vinegar-and-dye fizzing with color, fingers stained violet and crimson, a wax crayon drawing secrets onto a pale shell before it takes the plunge. The finished eggs, pastel and gleaming, get tucked into baskets lined with grass and tied with ribbon. Then comes the hunt: eyes scanning every hollow and hedge for that telltale gleam of cobalt or gold hiding just out of sight.
