Printing
How to print a word search
Every puzzle here is free to print, and it takes about a minute. The one thing worth knowing: keep the print scale at 100%, so the letters stay big and easy to read. Here’s the short version.
Keep the size at 100%
This is the setting that matters. In your print box, leave the scale (sometimes called “Size”) at 100%. If it’s set to “Fit to page,” the puzzle shrinks to leave room for margins — and large, clear letters are the whole point. At 100%, they stay large.
Printing, step by step
- Open the puzzle’s printable page and press Print — or use Ctrl + P on Windows, ⌘ + P on a Mac.
- Your browser’s print box opens. Choose your printer.
- Find the Scale(or “Size”) setting and make sure it reads 100%— not “Fit to page.” In Chrome and Edge you may need to open More settings to see it.
- Leave the margins on their default setting.
- Press Print.
Printing for a group
Putting together a puzzle afternoon at a senior center, a care home, or a family gathering? In the same print box, set the number of copies to however many you need, and print the whole batch in one go. On the Challenging level the answer key prints on its own page, so you can hand it out or keep it aside.
A couple of small things
- Black and white is fine. The puzzles are high-contrast dark-on-light, so they print beautifully without color — and use less ink.
- If the letters still look small, double-check the scale is 100%, and that you’re printing the printable page rather than the play screen.
