About The Riding Lesson

A first riding lesson smells of leather, hay, and something earthy and calm. The instructor calls out the gaits one at a time, walk, trot, canter, and the world narrows to the feel of the saddle, the give of the reins, and the soft thud of hooves on packed dirt. Learning to keep your heels down and your eyes up is a small discipline that quietly teaches patience, balance, and trust.

How to play
