About Flowering Trees

Every spring, neighborhood streets and old farmsteads alike burst into color weeks before the oaks even think about leafing out. A dogwood holds its white four-petaled blooms like outstretched hands; a redbud lines its bare branches with tiny rose-pink flowers that seem almost too vivid to be real. The sweet, faintly spiced scent drifting down from a magnolia or a flowering cherry is one of the season's most fleeting pleasures, here for a warm week, then gone on the first strong wind.

How to play
