About Heavyweight Champions

For most of the last century the heavyweight title was the one prize everybody followed, even people who never watched another fight. Families gathered around radios for Joe Louis, then around black-and-white sets for Marciano, and later around color televisions for Ali and Frazier. Barbershops and church halls had their own opinions, and nobody was shy about sharing them.
