About Lent

Lent stretches forty days from Ash Wednesday to Holy Saturday, mirroring Jesus's forty days in the desert. It is a season of slowing down, of prayer whispered in the early morning, of giving something up, of small acts of mercy and almsgiving that quietly reshape the heart. Purple vestments drape the altar, palms from last year's celebration are burned into the ashes traced on foreheads, and the whole Church waits in hopeful sorrow for the dawn of Easter.
