About National Parks
America's national parks stretch from the steaming thermal basins of Yellowstone to the sun-carved sandstone of the Grand Canyon, from the cathedral sequoias of California's Sierra Nevada to the mist-wrapped ridges of the Great Smoky Mountains. Each park holds its own particular light — the blue hour over a high-country lake, the roar of a waterfall felt before it's seen, the slow drift of a bison herd across an open plain. These wild places have been called America's best idea, and every trail into them feels like a homecoming.
