About Family History

Ellis Island opened its doors in 1892, and somewhere in a shoebox or a county courthouse there's probably a line of faded ink with your own people's name on it, spelled three different ways. The word searches in Family History are built from that world: the branches of The Family Tree, the Cousins & Kin you only see at funerals and reunions, the columns of a Census & Old Records page, the births and weddings penciled inside The Family Bible. Grandma's Hope Chest brings the tissue paper and cedar smell, and Old Letters & Diaries the slanted handwriting that never quite fit the line. Surnames turn up here too, the ones that got trimmed at the dock and the ones that held on. Pick whichever one tugs at you and take your time with it, the way you would with a bundle of letters tied up in string.
