About The Family Tree
Most family trees start at a kitchen table with a shoebox of photographs and one person asking who that is standing next to Great-Aunt Ida. From there it's census pages, ship manifests, church registers and a lot of squinting at handwriting. The U.S. census has named every household since 1790, and the 1950 returns are open to anyone with a library card and an evening to spare. The patient ones end up with a name and a village they'd never heard of, and a new reason to call a cousin.
