About The Needle & Thread
Every piece of needlework begins with the same quiet ritual: cutting a length of thread, guiding it through the narrow eye of a needle, and tying off a knot at the tail. The needle itself — slim shaft tapering to a fine point — is one of the oldest tools in human hands, essentially unchanged for thousands of years. Cotton, silk, and twisted fiber each behave a little differently under tension, and learning how each one moves through cloth is half the pleasure of the craft.
