About Crystals & Quartz
Quartz is one of the most common minerals in the Earth's crust, and it still manages to look like treasure when it grows in a pocket of rock. Crack open a plain gray geode and you may find a hollow lined with points, each one a six-sided column that grew slowly from water rich in silica. Purple amethyst and golden citrine are both just quartz with different traces inside, which is the kind of fact that sends a person back to the rock shop shelf.
