About I Love Lucy
The Ricardos lived at 623 East 68th Street, a make-believe address with a very real sort of walk-up charm, and the Mertzes were always one flight away and never knocking. Ricky led his band at the Tropicana while Lucy plotted her way into the act, usually in a borrowed wig and a plan that fell apart at exactly the right moment. It ran on CBS from 1951 to 1957, shot on film in front of a live audience, which is a big reason the reruns still look so crisp on a Tuesday afternoon.
