About Music & Film

At the height of Hollywood's Golden Age, a handful of major studios operated like small cities — writers, directors, costume designers, and stars all under one roof and under contract. The backlot could conjure ancient Rome one week and a rainy Paris street the next, built entirely from lumber, plaster, and imagination. A great mogul ran his lot with iron will and showman's instinct, and the stars who walked those streets were as carefully crafted as any set.
