About Doo-Wop

On warm evenings in the 1950s, young men gathered beneath streetlights on city corners and turned the air into something electric, four or five voices stacking a chord so tight it felt like one instrument. Doo-wop grew out of gospel, rhythm and blues, and the a cappella tradition, shaping groups like The Platters, The Moonglows, and Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers. The music lived in the falsetto soaring above the crowd, the bass rumbling underneath, and the sweet, wordless syllables, sha-na-na, shoo-be-doo, that gave the style its name.

How to play
