About Jerry Lee Lewis
Jerry Lee Lewis grew up in Ferriday, Louisiana, learning piano on an instrument his folks scraped together and soaking up church hymns and the blues across town. He landed at Sam Phillips's Sun Records in Memphis in 1956, and a couple of years later he was kicking the piano stool away and playing standing up. Nobody before or since has treated a piano quite so much like something to be wrestled.
