About The Late-Night Desk
For decades, the late-night desk has been a kind of American living room, a place where the day's absurdity gets sorted out with a smile and a practiced pause. The host shuffles index cards, the bandleader cues the fanfare, and somewhere just off camera a producer counts down on their fingers. By the time the curtain rises and the applause fills the studio, everything feels, for a moment, perfectly in order.
