About Nostalgia & Eras

In the early 1950s, a hulking wooden console with a tiny grey screen became the centrepiece of the American living room, and families would rearrange the furniture just to face it. The aerial on the roof, the hiss of the test card, the warm valve glow before the picture snapped into focus — it was pure wonder. Variety hours, puppet shows, crime dramas and singing cowboys all jostled for those precious evening hours, and a handful of performers became the first true stars of the small screen.
