About The First Snowfall

The first snowfall of the year arrives with a particular kind of silence, a softness that settles over rooftops and bare branches before anyone quite notices. Flakes drift past the window in no hurry, each one dissolving into the growing white below. By dusk the whole neighborhood is muffled and still, and the air carries that clean, cold smell that belongs to no other season.
