About Muhammad Ali

Cassius Clay grew up in Louisville, Kentucky, and started boxing at twelve after someone stole his bicycle. He won Olympic gold in Rome in 1960, then shocked Sonny Liston in 1964 and spent the next two decades as the man everyone in sports had an opinion about, usually a loud one. Kids imitated the shuffle and the rhymes, and grandparents who never followed boxing knew exactly who he was.
