About The Hockey Goalie
Every other player on the ice gets to skate away from a mistake. The goalie stands in the crease and lives with it, under the lights, with a few thousand people watching. Jacques Plante changed the job in 1959 when he came back out in a face mask after taking a stitch-worthy puck, and the leather and fiberglass have been getting stranger and sturdier ever since.
