About Baby Farm Animals

Every spring the barnyard fills with small, unsteady creatures getting their footing in the world. A calf noses at its mother's flank, a clutch of chicks peep under a heat lamp, and somewhere in the pasture a foal wobbles upright on legs that seem too long for its body. These youngest animals have their own names, precise, old words passed down through farming generations, that carry the smell of hay and morning milk right along with them.
