About Polar Bears
A polar bear spends most of its life out on the sea ice, waiting beside a breathing hole for a ringed seal to surface. In late autumn the pregnant females dig dens into deep snowdrifts, and the cubs are born there in the dark, no bigger than a guinea pig. Come spring, the mother leads them out blinking into the light, and the long lessons begin.
