About Beasts of Burden
Long before the engine or the wheel, the donkey, ox, camel, and mule were the quiet muscle of the ancient world, bearing grain to the mill, pilgrims to the city, and hope across the desert. Scripture notices them tenderly: the Law commanded that a neighbor's overburdened donkey be helped, and the ox was not to be muzzled while it trod the grain. Their breath likely warmed the stable at Bethlehem, and their kind carried prophets, kings, and a young mother on the road to Egypt.
