About Bethlehem

Bethlehem sits in the Judean hills a few miles south of Jerusalem, and its name means "house of bread" in Hebrew, fitting for a town cradled in fertile grain country. Long before the Christmas story, it was the home of Ruth and Boaz, and the birthplace of the shepherd boy who would become King David. Then came the night of the census, the crowded inn, the borrowed stable, and a baby laid in a manger while shepherds on the hillside heard the angels sing.
