About Vanity of Vanities

Ecclesiastes opens with one of the most haunting refrains in all of scripture: "Vanity of vanities, all is vanity." The Preacher watches the sun rise and set, the rivers empty into a sea that is never full, the wind circle and return, and asks what lasting gain any of it brings. Yet woven through that restless questioning is a thread of hard-won wisdom, that there is a season for everything, that a heart willing to seek will find more than it expected, and that meaning waits quietly inside the toil itself.
