About Faith & Inspiration
Fifty days after Passover, Jewish pilgrims flooded Jerusalem for the ancient harvest festival — and it was into that gathered crowd that the Holy Spirit arrived like a roaring wind, resting on the disciples as tongues of fire. Those who had been hiding behind locked doors stepped out speaking in languages they had never learned, and thousands believed before the day was done. Christians have called that morning the birthday of the church ever since, and the color red — the color of flame — marks the day on altars around the world.
