About Fresh Produce

A farmers market at dawn has something quietly electric about it, dew still on the greens, the earthy smell of fresh-pulled carrots mixing with the sweetness of ripe pepper. Vendors stack squash in careful pyramids and bundle radishes with twists of rubber band, their leaves still trembling. By the time the crowds arrive, every basket is a small still life of the morning's best work.
