About Women Who Wrote the Classics

Plenty of these books arrived in a house as a gift with a name penciled inside the cover, and then wandered from sister to sister and on down the street. Charlotte Brontë sent Jane Eyre to a publisher in 1847 under the name Currer Bell, and Willa Cather set O Pioneers! on the Nebraska prairie in 1913. Margaret Mitchell's Georgia, Emily Brontë's Yorkshire moor: they're still the places people argue about over dessert.
