About Great Soul Singers

Soul grew up in church basements and small studios in places like Memphis, Muscle Shoals and Macon, far from Detroit's assembly line. Stax had a gritty horn sound, and Jerry Wexler sat in the booth at Atlantic. Willie Mitchell's Hi Records made everything sound warm and slow. Put on a 45 of any of them and you can tell within two bars who's singing.

How to play
