About Chuck Berry
Charles Edward Anderson Berry was born in St. Louis in 1926, and he wrote the way a good short-story man does, with a car, a girl, a school day and a radio. His records came out on Chess in Chicago starting in 1955, and every kid with a cheap guitar tried to copy that double-string opening lick. He played it all, and he did it while hopping across the stage on one bent leg.
