Pioneer 10 crossed Neptune's orbit on June 13, 1983 — at that moment the outermost planet in our solar system, since Pluto's elliptical path had carried it closer to the Sun that year.Find this word in the grid to read its note.
PIONEER
The spacecraft carried a gold-anodized aluminum plaque etched with figures of a man and woman and a diagram of our solar system — a message in a bottle cast into interstellar space.Find this word in the grid to read its note.

About Pioneer 10 Leaves the Solar System

On June 13, 1983, NASA's Pioneer 10 crossed the orbit of Neptune and became the first man-made object to travel beyond every known planet — venturing into the vast, cold quiet of interstellar space. Launched in March 1972, the small spacecraft had spent more than a decade threading past Jupiter's crushing storms and riding the solar wind ever outward, its golden plaque carrying a greeting from Earth to whatever might one day find it. The signals Pioneer 10 sent home grew fainter with every passing year, but they kept arriving — faint whispers of a lone craft sailing deeper into the cosmos than anything built by human hands had gone before.
