Edison light bulb word search rooted in October 21, 1879, the night a Menlo Park lab changed what darkness meant.

About Edison Lights the Night: The First Practical Bulb

On October 21, 1879, Thomas Edison stood in his Menlo Park laboratory in New Jersey and watched a slender carbonized thread hold a steady glow for more than thirteen hours, proof, at last, that electric light could be practical, safe, and long-lasting. That single thread, sealed inside an evacuated glass globe, turned what had been a flickering laboratory curiosity into the seed of a world transformed. Within a few years, homes, theaters, and city streets that had once known only gaslight and candleflame began to blaze with a clean, steady amber warmth.
