About The Ice Cream Cone Rolls Into History

On September 22, 1903, New York confectioner Italo Marchiony received U.S. Patent No. 746,971 for a mold that pressed warm dough into small edible cups, the first official recognition of the ice cream cone's genius. Before that crisp autumn day, ice cream was handed over in glass dishes that had to be returned to the vendor, and eating on the move was messy business. Marchiony's simple baked mold changed everything: suddenly a scoop of vanilla or chocolate became something you could hold, lick, and stroll with, dripping caramel sunlight all the way down your wrist.
