About Ernest Hemingway: A Voice of a Generation Is Born
On July 21, 1899, Ernest Hemingway was born in Oak Park, Illinois, a quiet suburb that would launch one of the most restless lives in American letters. He chased the world's edges: the cafés of Paris, the corridas of Spain, the deep-sea waters off Cuba, the open plains of Africa. His spare, muscular prose, a style he called the iceberg, showing only the tip, reshaped how stories are told and gave an entire generation a voice for courage, loss, and the beauty of the natural world.
