About Picasso's Blue Period: La Vie
On October 25, 1881, Pablo Picasso was born in Málaga, Spain, a date that would quietly reshape the entire story of Western art. By 1903, deep in what critics would call his Blue Period, he completed La Vie, a haunting canvas of human longing painted almost entirely in cool, melancholy blues. The figures stand weightless and searching, as though the paint itself were holding its breath, a defining work from an artist barely twenty-one years old.
