About Silent Night

Few carols settle a room like "Silent Night." Its melody, unhurried and gentle, was first sung on Christmas Eve 1818 in a small Austrian village church, and it has carried that same hush across every generation since. The words paint a world of soft glowing light, a mother, an infant sleeping in heavenly peace, and the first pale edge of a redeeming dawn. To sing it is to slow down and breathe.
