About The Poppy

John McCrae wrote "In Flanders Fields" in 1915, and the red poppy has been a symbol of remembrance ever since. Every November, volunteers sell small silk or paper poppies outside grocery stores and church halls, and people pin them to their coats without much fanfare, which is exactly how it should be. The flowers that grew wild over the battlefields of Belgium gave the world one of its most quietly powerful gestures.
