About Honoring Our Veterans

Veterans Day falls on November 11, the exact hour and date the guns fell silent in 1918, and that number has carried weight ever since. A hand over the heart, a flag snapping in a cold morning breeze, a few rows of medals on a chest that doesn't say much about what they cost. The word "veteran" comes from the Latin for "old soldier," but most of the people it describes were very young when they earned it.
