About On the Pitch

A regulation soccer pitch can stretch to 130 yards long, yet every square yard of it has a name and a purpose. The halfway line splits the world in two at kickoff, and the small arc at the top of the penalty box keeps defenders an honest ten yards back at a set piece. Groundskeepers have mowed those same markings into turf for well over a century, the layout settled as the Football Association refined the Laws of the Game through the late 1800s.

How to play
