About Germany
Germany's landscape moves from the broad Rhine and Moselle valleys, their slopes thick with vineyards and crowned with medieval stone, through dense, cathedral-like pine forests to the snowy peaks of the Bavarian Alps. Villages that look unchanged for centuries gather around a cobbled market square: gabled half-timbered houses, a church spire, a lime-tree linden at the center, and the smell of fresh pretzels drifting from an open bakery door. In the evenings the beer hall fills with candlelight, the clink of steins, and the easy warmth of people who have nowhere else to be.
