About San Francisco
San Francisco sits at the tip of a narrow peninsula, wrapped on three sides by the cold blue of the Pacific and the bay. Its hills are legendary, forty-three of them, and the cable cars that have gripped those slopes since 1873 are still the best way to feel the city's rhythm, bell clanging, bay wind in your face. At dusk the fog pours silently through the Golden Gate, softening the bridge's towers to a warm rust blur above the water.
