About The Himalayas
The Himalayas stretch across roughly 1,500 miles through five countries, cradling some fourteen peaks that rise above 26,000 feet, a realm where glaciers inch through silence and the wind carries the scent of juniper smoke from distant monasteries. Villages of stone and timber cling to valley floors below passes that have been crossed by traders and pilgrims for centuries, their routes marked by cairns draped in faded prayer flags. The yak, patient and thick-coated, has long been the essential companion here, carrying loads across terrain where the air is so thin the sky itself seems a deeper shade of blue.
