About Mount Fuji

Rising 12,389 feet above the island of Honshu, Mount Fuji has been a place of reverence and wonder for centuries. Pilgrims in white robes have climbed its slopes since at least the 7th century, passing torii gates and mountain shrines on the way to the crater's rim. Below, Lake Kawaguchi mirrors the perfect cone in its still water, a reflection so iconic that the two together have become the very image of Japan.
