About Berlin
Berlin sits astride the quiet River Spree, a city rebuilt and reunited after a century of upheaval, its skyline stitched together from Prussian grandeur, Bauhaus cool, and bold new glass. Unter den Linden — "under the linden trees" — stretches from the old palace quarter westward to the famous Brandenburg Gate, a boulevard that has witnessed coronations, protests, and jubilant crowds tearing down a wall. The Museumsinsel, a cluster of world-class museums on a slender river island, earned its place on the UNESCO World Heritage list in 1999 and remains one of Europe's great cultural crossroads.
