About Vienna

Vienna spent centuries as the seat of the Habsburg dynasty, and that imperial confidence is written into every stone arch and chandelier. The city gave the world the waltz, the grand opera house on the Ringstrasse, and the café — a refuge so cherished it was declared part of Austria's intangible cultural heritage. Even the pastry counter is a monument: the Sachertorte, a dense chocolate cake sealed with apricot jam, has been served at the Hotel Sacher since 1876.
