About Antarctic Wildlife

Antarctica has no native land mammals and no trees, yet its coastline is crowded in summer with penguins, seals and nesting seabirds. Nearly all of it depends on krill, small shrimplike creatures that swarm in the cold Southern Ocean. A single blue whale can eat around four tons of them in a day at peak feeding.

How to play
