About Chinese Takeout
The folded white carton with the little wire handle is an American invention, patterned after oyster pails, and it has carried lo mein and fried rice home on a thousand Friday nights. Somebody always claims the egg rolls, and the chopsticks end up as drumsticks for the grandchildren. Then comes the cookie, cracked open slowly, the little slip read aloud to the whole table.
