Some speeches stay with a place, like the little church in Richmond where Patrick Henry spoke in 1775, or the battlefield cemetery in Pennsylvania where Lincoln stood in 1863. Others stay with a voice, like the radio fireside talks that Franklin Roosevelt delivered to kitchen tables across the country. Most of us can still hear a line or two, even if we couldn't say who gave it first.
