About The Crooners

Before microphones got good, singers shouted through megaphones to reach the back of the hall. Rudy Vallee was still holding one in the late 1920s, but by the time Bing Crosby took over radio in the 1930s, a man could sing as if he were talking to one person across a dinner table. That closeness filled living rooms on Saturday night, and it's why a crooner's voice still sounds like a hand on your shoulder.

How to play
