About The Four Tops
Four friends from Detroit's North End started singing together in 1953 at a birthday party, and they kept at it for more than forty years without a single change in the lineup. That's almost unheard of in any band, let alone one that outlasted the whole Motown assembly line. Levi Stubbs sang lead like a man pleading at a screen door, and the other three stood behind him and made it sound like a choir.
